“Yes, Future”. Unveiled the 40. SIC official artwork
News07.2025
«A five-year journey to reclaim shared emotions, to reaffirm our identities, unafraid to use our bodies as canvases on which to paint new narratives, yet brave enough to face the storm and the loss of all certainties.
Five years to finally find the courage to scream out loud.
A primal, liberating scream: not a cry of despair, but one of determination.
A rebel song that channels the wild, youthful fury of punk in order to reject the “no future” nihilism it has always been associated with, and instead reaffirm the right to inherit a tomorrow we can recognize ourselves in.
We are graffiti on walls. We are a movie that came out at the end of the last millennium. We are posters faded from too much photocopying. We are acidic colours, defiant and romantic. We are resistance without resignation.
We are the lineup of a music festival in unfamiliar territory.
We were born yesterday, we carry forty years of stories, and we keep coming into the world again and again, in different, unpredictable, and unstoppable ways.
We are the refuge for those who, despite everything, remain standing and make their voices heard.»

«The best response we can give to a world that wants to surrender creativity to machines is a scream. Honest. Authentic.
The one contribution you can really offer others lies in your imperfections, your mistakes, your awkward gestures.
Every scratch on a wall tells a story. It tells us how it was made. It gives us a taste of the passage of time. Of what once was.
But most of all, it speaks about us, about our genuine experiences, which cannot and must not be generated by a prompt, but must come alive, unexpected and urgent.»

«Graphic design has always reflected its time and all its layers.
This time, while telling the story of the 2025 Settimana Internazionale della Critica, we also wanted to celebrate its 40-year history, and do it literally.
So, we reimagined the protagonist of Gummo, one of the most iconic films ever screened by the SIC, as he unleashes his cry of rebellion on a wall.
We hid signs of revolt in the material, in its lines.
And with that same punk/grunge attitude, we had fun breaking the classic conventions of institutional festival graphics, scribbling them by hand, like song titles scrawled on cassette tape covers. Written by hand, like all things that truly matter.»
