On 9th December, the Union of Italian Film Critics (SNCCI) convened to elect the new Settimana Internazionale della Critica’s committee for the three-year period 2025-2027. The Board unanimously confirmed the mandate of Beatrice Fiorentino as Artistic Director and appointed Matteo Berardini, Marianna Cappi, Francesco Grieco and Marco Romagna as committee members.

“The confirmation of Beatrice Fiorentino as the Artistic Director of the Settimana della Critica represents a continuation of the excellent work done for the enhancement of auteur cinema and the discovery of new talents over the next three years”, commented Cristiana Paternò, President of SNCCI, on the appointment.

The Artistic Director Beatrice Fiorentino commented on the renewal of her mandate as follows: “I would like to thank the SNCCI for confirming me in my role as Artistic Director of the Settimana Internazionale della Critica for a second term, thus reaffirming the trust and mutual esteem that has been the basis of an always constructive, stimulating and fruitful collaboration over the years. Aware of the responsibilities that come with this position, I am committed to renewing my efforts with fresh energy, not only in our search for the highest quality of cinema, but increasingly in support of a “new” cinema. In this time of production uncertainties and rampant mainstream, it is more important than ever to safeguard a space for free and original filmmaking, as a guarantee of a plurality of perspectives that is synonymous with the vitality of the seventh art, and artistic and cultural wealth. Over the next three years, I will support, defend and promote in any way those filmmakers who, right from their debut, intend to take up this challenge for the future with us. I would like to thank the previous selection committee for their support and infinite generosity, and I would like to welcome the new team and wish them well in their work”.

The Settimana Internazionale della Critica (SIC) is an independent and parallel section of the Venice International Film Festival organized by the Union of Italian Film Critics (SNCCI) as part of the Venice International Film Festival.
